Today is a very special day, because it's not only my daddy's birthday (congratulations dad!), but Roxanne a woman from work is going to give birth today. Ironically enough it's labour day today!. Her tummy was very round and she has been working untill the last day yesterday, however her water broke tonight so she couldn't get to work. She will be giving birth of two baby girls, who will complete the family consisting of another boy named Jordan, her husband and 5 cats!!
It's not only an exciting day for her, but for my mother too. She will be coming over to New York !!! It's her first time here, so I'll have to show her around ;). She arrived at noon and afterwards she didn't even want to see me, because she went straight to the Museum of Modern Art.. ( I had to work of course ..)
This morning it was very busy on our way to work. Because of the heavy rains of yesterday, railways were flooded with mud and had to be closed.
Instead of arriving a quarter to 9 we arrived 9:30.. After a day of work, I was reunioned with my mother at the pub. We decided to have dinner in the city which was pretty good. We enjoyed a hamburger :) When done eating we said goodbye again and my mother and uncle left to their hotel and I got back to 'my' house.
When my bags were packed and everything was ready Cristine and I left to NYC. ralph had left already because he had an early call, so Cristine and I could sleep in a bit. When we arrived at the office, my mother and Peter were already there due to our delay with the train. We left the suitcase in the office and I left with my mother and uncle to go to Guggenheim. However there was one little problem, my uncle broke his leg one week before going to NY so he was in a wheelchair. But because of that I could experience the caps and traffic in NY. We stopped at the Guggenheim and enjoyed all the art present inside. Then we walked straight to Central Park in which we walked and enjoyed the nature and brides in front of beautiful trees. When we got out of the park we entered 5th avenue, known for all the shops, and went to the Apple store. That apple store is a box made of glass on top of the store, the actual store is under the ground and it is the first Apple store of the world. We had a look and went on for shopping, which I enjoyed!! A few shops later we had lunch in the Starbucks, the people working there are very slow and it took a while to finally have your coffee and food (but, it was worth the wait :)). Then we got straight back to shopping again and at about 5.30p we got back to the hotel to rest for a bit, get changed and got to the restaurant where we met with Cristine and Ralph again. We had a lovely dinner at the Mexican restaurant " La Cenita". There's one thing about New York, the slogan which suits best is of course :' the city that never sleeps'. Well the restaurants are like that too, they clearly don't like silence and put on music as if you are in a disco..
when the desserts were finished and the bill was paid we went back to the hotel what was beautifully located at Times Square, from the window you could look over New York which was very impressive!. I found out that my hotel was right next to the hotel of a friend of mine, Joep. So after a few texts we decided to meet up which was nice :) finally I got to bed and went to sleep right away.
